HOW TO BROADCAST FROM YOUR COMPUTER ON FLAPDADDY
(position mouse over text to see corresponding picture)

1.  Make sure you have a working mic. In Windows, select "control panel" from the start menu. Then double-click "sounds and audio devices," choose the "voice" tab, and "test harware." You will see the bars going up and down if you have a working microphone plugged in that Windows recognizes. If not, buy a microphone, find a plug on your computer with a picture of a microphone, plug it in, and restart the computer.

2.  Make sure you have a working camera. The easiest way I know to get a list of working cameras is to download and install Skype. Then start Skype, select tools, options, video, enable Skype video, and test the webcam. If you have no default webcam to select from the dropdown list, you need to buy one. If you have already bought one, you may need to run the installation CD that came with it, plug it in, and restart your computer.

3.  Download and Install Windows Media Encoder 9. Search Google for Windows Media Encoder 9. Or you can try this link. Once you have downloaded it, run the installation procedure, and then start Windows Media Encoder 9.

4.  Tell Windows Media Encoder your camera and mic sources. Once you have started Windows Media Encoder and canceled any startup messages, select properties from the menu, and then select the sources tab. Choose your active camera and mic from the dropdown lists.

5.  Tell Windows Media Encoder where to send the signal. In Windows Media Encoder, click properties and then select the output tab. Check only "push to server" and then copy and paste in the data provided by Flapdaddy. Apply the values you entered, and click okay or ignore if you get any weird messages.

6.  Broadcast! Click the green "start encoding" arrow at the top. Click play on your Flapdaddy show page, and you should be able to see your show.
